I’m Too Busy Watering My Own Grass to Notice Whether Yours Is Greener

Once I started my freshman year at UGA, I began to realize that I was not the best at everything that I thought I was in high school. I actually became one of those people who had to study harder for material than others; therefore, I began to think something was wrong with me because I had to work harder than others. That is the beautiful thing about college — it is a wonderful wake-up call in your life. One minute, you’re the 20-karat diamond everyone wants in the Tiffany and Co. store; the next, you become second-rate to the Rose Gold diamond they just put on display. With that knowledge, you learn that if you think you are cute/pretty, somebody will always be cuter/prettier; therefore, if you think that you are smart, somebody will always be smarter than you. Of course, that may not be what people want to hear, but it is the truth, and I still have a hard time realizing this. However, you cannot forget that it was your personality, character, and smarts that equally got your spot here at UGA. So, ours is just as good if not better. At the end of the day, if you focus on becoming a better you, which is what college is supposed to do, and water your own grass, you would not even give a damn if someone else’s was greener… it may just be Astroturf! LOL!!!

My name is Dara and I am from the Windy City! …. And yes, part of the reason why I came to the University of Georgia was because of the weather! My birthday is in August (August 20th to be exact) so shout out to all my fellow Leos. I am a soon-to-be sophomore at UGA and am majoring in Broadcast Journalism. The goal is Good Morning America for me, but of course making pit stops in Atlanta, Chicago, and Los Angeles before I go to the “Big Apple” for good. I speak French and have been to Paris, and I’m looking forward to traveling outside the country more often. In other words, though, I hope you enjoy my posts on my reality of positivity and hopefully they will create some positivity in your life as well.
